Spring in the studio always arrives before I notice it — in the colors I reach for, in the looseness of my brush, in the way I start thinking about my work. This season, that shift took shape in two new large paintings that feel like companions: one bright and reaching, one warm and grounded.
Both pieces explore blossoms against the sky, but each carries its own temperament, its own quiet story.

Blooming in Blue Air began with a simple desire for lightness — not just in palette, but in feeling. I wanted the blossoms to feel lifted, almost buoyant, as if the sky itself were holding them up. The long stems, the softened edges, the way the petals tilt toward the sun… it all came from a place of wanting to breathe a little deeper.
There’s a gentle optimism in this piece. A sense of upward movement. A reminder that even the simplest forms can feel expansive when given room.

Red Blossoms Within the Quiet Sky holds a different kind of energy — deeper, more grounded, almost dusk‑like. The red blossoms feel bold but not loud, glowing gently against the muted sky. I painted this one more intuitively, letting the brushwork loosen and the shapes arrive on their own terms.
Where the yellow blossoms reach upward, these red blossoms feel rooted, steady, present. They carry warmth, but also a kind of contemplative stillness.
